How We Started

Revival Baptist Church began its journey on March 29, 1982, when a group of members from Ebenezer Baptist Church felt inspired to establish a new congregation. The church held its first service on Sunday, March 21, 1982, in the home of one of its founding members. For about a month, services continued in this welcoming home until a donated auto garage was thoughtfully converted into a temporary worship space.

Alton Hood played a pivotal role in the church’s growth, generously donating two acres of land for the construction of a new building at its current location. This first dedicated church building was completed in August 1982, with the congregation celebrating its inaugural service on Sunday, September 5, 1982.

As the church flourished, the original building transitioned into a fellowship hall in 1996 when a new, larger church was constructed. This project was made possible by an additional one-acre donation from Alton Hood’s daughter, Lucille Coker, ensuring that Revival Baptist Church could continue serving its community for generations to come.
